Tees Active is a charitable leisure management organisation operating in Stockton-on-Tees. We offer a range of different activities perfect for school and educational group trips across our different venues (Billingham Forum, IB Leisure, Stockton Splash, Thornaby Pavilion, Thornaby Pool, Tees Barrage International White Water Centre and Air Trail).

We pride ourselves on delivering a fantastic experience for any school or educational group and can cater for everyone regardless of their budget or group size. Our aim is to provide a safe and fun learning environment outside of the classroom where teaching staff can be sure that they are fully supported in delivering and achieving the desired outcomes for their group.

All of our staff are fully qualified and experienced instructors for each of their activities and are ready to welcome you and your pupils.

Staff members are more than welcome to visit our venues prior to their booking. We will run through all matters of safety and accessibility to settle any concerns you may have as well as accompanying you on a fully guided tour of your chosen venue.

GoClimb Indoor Climbing

Round up your climbing comrades and book an exclusive visit to GoClimb. Conveniently located within Billingham Forum, GoClimb's colourful jungle of exciting climbing walls, brings you interactive designs to let your imagination run wild!

With over 20 unique walls, a 22ft vertical plunge slide and a spiral of twisting towers to overcome, will you have the energy left to take a daring leap of faith? Our team will provide harnesses and helmets (only required for a few challenges), so all you need to bring is your sense of adventure!

Ice Skating

We regularly welcome schools from across the Tees Valley for educational visits because it’s a great activity for the kids and we can accommodate small class sizes through to whole schools. We have our own coach parking and we have full risk assessments available.

Sessions can be booked as part of a public Simply Skate session or you can privately hire the whole or part of the Ice Arena, depending on your needs.  You can even have an Ice Coach so your group can enjoy some quality coaching or play time as part of an exclusive session on the ice.

Rapid Racer Inflatable

Working in partnership with local schools Tees Active delivers fantastic school swimming programmes that are designed to help schools achieve the National Curriculum Standard for Key Stage 2 attainment target. We work with children of all ages to offer them a comprehensive programme of learning which can feed into further opportunities in the water outside of the school environment.

There’s A Monster In Your Show

Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventures for big imaginations are leaping from page to stage, as the beloved ‘Who’s in Your Book?' series makes its debut as a brand-new musical show.

A group of performers are preparing to start their show, but quickly discover they are not alone on stage. Little Monster wants to be part of the fun too! With an invitation to his friends, Dragon, Alien and Unicorn to join him, you can expect comedy and chaos as they help to create a magical show, learning about the joy of books and friendship along the way.

We all want to meet people from history! The trouble is everyone is dead! So it’s time to prepare for Horrible Histories live on stage with the acclaimed production of Gorgeous Georgians and Vile Victorians!

Tees Barrage International White Water Centre

Team Building / Raft Building

Our team building games are always a favourite with groups! We offer a range of activities designed to look at a team rather than the individual. Specifically designed games and tasks like ‘raft building’ ‘acid drop’ and ‘duck hunt’ are an excellent way for students to communicate effectively with each other in order to solve problems and have lots of fun in the process!

This is an ideal activity for large group sizes and really helps with children’s confidence and being able to express themselves.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Great fun and sure to create some comedy moments. Not many can escape without a good drenching. Will your class? Try individual stand up paddleboards or have a go on our giant team paddleboards.

Stand Up Paddleboarding will require the ability to listen to instructions carefully and take direction whilst improving balance, co-ordination and core strength.

Kayaking

Another fun and engaging activity for large group sizes. Navigate around the flat water lake and head onto the River Tees.

Manoeuvre your kayak and build up your skills during your session plus there will be lots of fun, races and games with your classmates and instructor.

Bellboating

Bellboating emphasises planning, communication, leadership and team work skills. It is also a great way to experience the river as they are very stable crafts, making it the perfect activity for groups of mixed abilities. Students will work together as a team in a number of water based games.

The stability of bellboats makes them perfect for children and people who aren’t used to being on water. They take little effort to pick up pace and can cover a good distance. We can help you to organise inter school regattas racing up to 4 boats at once.
