Badminton Returns 2nd November
Badminton returns to Thornaby Pavilion on Monday 2nd November. Please ensure you read the list of FAQs below, which detail the updates to our policies and how to book a court, before booking a session.
The safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have put an extensive range of protective measures in place to help ensure everyone’s safety during this time. This includes – an increased cleaning regime, installing cleaning stations across the facility, displaying social distancing signage and the closure of all non-essential areas.
Whilst we have extensive measures in place to maintain the highest level of hygiene across our venues, we also have an expectation from our visitors to take responsibility for their own hygiene. All visitors must clean down equipment before and after use and make the most of the cleaning products available to support each other in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Currently, all badminton sessions are available at Thornaby Pavilion. We will reintroduce badminton to Stockton Splash and Billingham Forum as soon as it is possible to do so. Keep an eye out for more information as it’s released.
Badminton can be played by all ages and abilities.
Following government guidance, when booking a badminton session, you can only play with members of your own household or support bubble and no more than 4 people can play together at any one time.
All badminton sessions must be booked by calling Thornaby Pavilion on 01642 760971.
As before, Tees Active members can book 8 days in advance. Non-members can book 7 days in advance.
Following industry and government guidance, and to allow for social distancing measures, only 2 courts will be in use at any given time and only 4 people may use a court at once.
Courts will be alternated for each session to allow for a thorough clean of each court after use. We ask that during your session, please keep your distance from others who are playing on another court and respect the policies in place to keep everyone safe during this time.
For the time being we ask that you turn up ready to play, as the changing rooms are currently out of use to limit touchpoints around the venue.
Please be aware, the badminton session times below are subject to change and there will be certain times where noise from nearby fitness classes will be present. If you have any questions our team at Thornaby Pavilion are happy to help.

You should enter Thornaby Pavilion via the main entrance door. We currently have a one-way system in place at Thornaby Pavilion for entering and exiting the building and you will be made aware of how to exit the badminton courts by our reception team upon arrival.
Unfortunately, we are unable to hire out badminton equipment. This is to ensure we are following guidance from the governing body. You will need to bring your own equipment with you in order to take part in a badminton session.
Unfortunately, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines spectators are not allowed at this time during badminton sessions.
If you feel unwell or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 please do not attend your badminton session. Instead, call our team on 01642 760971 and we will refund your session for another time.
When you book your badminton session you will be entered into Tees Active’s robust track and trace system. We have also implemented the NHS Test & Trace system throughout our venues and ask that you download the app and scan your visit upon entry into Thornaby Pavilion.
