Racquet Sports are returning from 17th May
Thornaby Pavilion and Billingham Forum see the return of Badminton & Squash.
The safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have put an extensive range of protective measures in place to help ensure everyone’s safety during this time. This includes – an increased cleaning regime, installing cleaning stations across the facility, displaying social distancing signage and the closure of all non-essential areas.
Whilst we have extensive measures in place to maintain the highest level of hygiene across our venues, we also have an expectation from our visitors to take responsibility for their own hygiene. All visitors must clean down equipment before and after use and make the most of the cleaning products available to support each other in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Masks/face coverings must be worn in all communal areas of our venues but can be taken off once you’re on the court.
You can attend both badminton and squash at Thornaby Pavilion and Billingham Forum.
At the moment, Stockton Splash is not yet returning racquet sports. We will release more information about the return of these at this venue as soon as it’s available.
Racquet sports can be played by all ages and abilities.
Following government guidance from 17th May, when booking a racquet sport session, you can only play with members of your own household or support bubble and no more than 4 people can play together at any one time.
All sessions can be booked via our online booking platform or by speaking to the venue’s reception team.
All sessions must be booked in advance before arrival at the venue. Tees Active members can book 8 days in advance. Non-members can book 7 days in advance.
Following industry and government guidance, and to allow for social distancing measures, all courts will be open and available to use but only 4 people may use a court at once.
A half an hour gap has been programmed between sessions so that the courts can be cleaned before the next users arrive.
We ask that during your session, please keep your distance from others who are playing on another court and respect the policies in place to keep everyone safe during this time.
Following industry and government guidance, only people from the same household or support bubble may play squash together. This is due to the close confinement whilst taking part.
For the time being we ask that you turn up ready to play, as the changing rooms are currently out of use to limit touchpoints around the venue.
Please be aware, racquet sport session times are subject to change and there will be certain times where noise from nearby fitness classes will be present. If you have any questions our team at the venues are happy to help.
Racquet sports are available 7 days a week.
We currently have a one-way systems in place at all of our venues for entering and exiting the buildings and you will be made aware of how to exit the badminton courts by our reception team upon arrival.
Unfortunately, we are unable to hire out badminton equipment. This is to ensure we are following guidance from the governing body. You will need to bring your own equipment with you in order to take part in a badminton session. You can however purchase shuttlecocks from our reception.
Unfortunately, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines spectators are not allowed at this time during badminton sessions.
If you feel unwell or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 please do not attend your badminton session. Instead, call our team on 01642 760971 and we will refund your session for another time.
When you book your badminton session you will be entered into Tees Active’s robust track and trace system. We have also implemented the NHS Test & Trace system throughout our venues and ask that you download the app and scan your visit upon entry into any of our venues.
