We’ve made some important changes since reopening our swimming pools, please make sure you visit the welcome back page before visiting our venues. Swimming is one of the most popular activities for adults to enjoy. Not only is it accessible and affordable, it is also one of the greatest ways to improve your overall health and fitness. Some of us have a lifelong passion for swimming from an early age, whilst others can often discover our thirst later in life due to the breadth of health benefits associated with regular swimming. Whatever the reason, Stockton-on-Tees is home to 4 swimming pools offering a variety of adult focused sessions and a popular adult swimming lessons to keep you happy, active and feeling revitalised.

Lane swimming is available in most public sessions to all customers who are swimming for fitness. A range of swimming aids are available for you to use to help you get the most out of your aquatic workout. These swimming aids will be at the end of the pool at each session when lane swimming is available. The swimming aids available are pull buoys, kickboards and aqua gloves. Feel free to have a go with them and return all equipment to the container at the end of your workout.
Here at Tees Active we want everyone to enjoy their visit to our swimming pools. In order to ensure all swimmers have a pleasant experience at our swimming pools we ask that our customers follow the swimming etiquette outlined here. Swimming etiquette is a set of informal rules of conduct that ensure a smooth swimming experience when swimmers share the same lane. If you want to appear as a well-mannered swimmer, it is important that you follow our lane swimming etiquette.
Look first and choose a lane that has swimmers you think are at the same speed as yourself.
Be willing to switch lane if your swimming speed is not similar to the others in the lane.
If a swimmer behind you wishes to overtake, then where there is room to do so allow them the opportunity. Alternatively if the lane is too busy, when you reach the end of the pool allow them to pass you.
Don’t push off the wall right infront of a faster swimmer. Let him/her pass first. Likewise don’t push off right behind a slower swimmer to directly pass them by. Leave them some room before pushing off.
If you catch up with the swimmer in front of you give them the opportunity to allow you to pass. DON’T TRY TO SWIM OVER THEM!
Give way to faster swimmers at the end of the lane and rest in the corner of the lane when you need to stop.
Follow the direction signs for the lane that you use, keeping to the outside edge of the lane.
Wait until swimmers have turned and pushed off before entering the lane.
Be Polite to swimmers of varying skill levels and respect other swimmers personal space.
Please use caution when overtaking other swimmers. When lanes are busy extra care is needed to avoid collisions.
All Tees Active operated venues are DDA compliant and as a service provider, Tees Active not only want to comply with relevant legislation, but also to go further in providing a top quality experience for all visitors. We will endeavour to ensure that disabled people are not treated any less favourably, and that ‘reasonable adjustments’ are made where appropriate and possible through sensitive and creative solutions.
All of our swimming pools have disabled changing and shower facilities, and a mobile or fixed pool hoist to enable access to the water. Visit the Access for All page for information about accessibility across all of our sites.
We run regular competitions and challenges to help swimmers stay motivated and have fun during their session. Our swimmers have explained how much the swim challenges help to push them further and keep them focused during their sessions. Head over to our challenges page to see what is happening across our pools.
Unfortunately we do not allow underwater earphones in our pools. This is to ensure that everyone can react promptly to any instruction given from our lifeguards or other swimmers.
