Here at Tees Active we want everyone to enjoy their visit to our swimming pools. In order to ensure all swimmers have a pleasant experience at our swimming pools we ask that our customers follow the swimming etiquette outlined here. Swimming etiquette is a set of informal rules of conduct that ensure a smooth swimming experience when swimmers share the same lane. If you want to appear as a well-mannered swimmer, it is important that you follow our lane swimming etiquette.
Look
Look first and choose a lane that has swimmers you think are at the same speed as yourself.
Switch
Be willing to switch lane if your swimming speed is not similar to the others in the lane.
Overtake
If a swimmer behind you wishes to overtake, then where there is room to do so allow them the opportunity. Alternatively if the lane is too busy, when you reach the end of the pool allow them to pass you.
Push Off
Don’t push off the wall right infront of a faster swimmer. Let him/her pass first. Likewise don’t push off right behind a slower swimmer to directly pass them by. Leave them some room before pushing off.
Catch
If you catch up with the swimmer in front of you give them the opportunity to allow you to pass. DON’T TRY TO SWIM OVER THEM!
Give Way
Give way to faster swimmers at the end of the lane and rest in the corner of the lane when you need to stop.
Follow
Follow the direction signs for the lane that you use, keeping to the outside edge of the lane.
Wait
Wait until swimmers have turned and pushed off before entering the lane.
Be Polite
Be Polite to swimmers of varying skill levels and respect other swimmers personal space.
Caution
Please use caution when overtaking other swimmers. When lanes are busy extra care is needed to avoid collisions.

Our swimmers have explained how much the swim challenges help to push them further and keep them focused during their sessions.
