Working in partnership with Stockton Councils Transformation team the physical activity coordinators from Stockton’s Care Homes held a networking and taster session at Thornaby Pavilion. This was an ideal opportunity to demonstrate some of the physical activities that may be suitable for their residents. Tees Actives Community Engagement Manager Allan discussed the range of activities available, and any accessibility issues. A very lively meeting was well received and there appears to be strong support for a care home “Event” to be held at Thornaby Pavilion later in the year.

The Transformation team are already planning the next network event, which again will held at Thornaby Pavilion and will involve the coordinators participating in several physical activities.

Julie Nisbett Stockton Councils Transformation Manager for Residential care said “The Activity Coordinators Network, facilitated by the Transformation Team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, is a network set up to bring Activity Coordinators together from across all care homes in Stockton. The meetings give care staff the opportunity to share good practice and ideas and to keep up to date with what provisions are available to residents in 24hr residential care.

Working alongside Tees Active has helped activity coordinators to see first-hand what to expect from some of the activities on offer and being supported in making these accessible to their residents and service users. The team at Tees Active are responsive to the needs of the care homes, always seeking to make the activities inclusive and accessible.”
