Tees Active were delighted to be a part of the Great British Week of Sport which incorporated National Fitness Day to help unite and empower the nation towards improving their health through sport and exercise.

Tees Active, alongside a range of companies and charities were involved with the Great British Week of Sport, from worldwide fitness brand Les Mills to MIND, the mental health charity and the British national movement This Girl Can, all with the goal to help our nation improve both their mental and physical health through keeping active!

Tees Active challenged Stockton-on-Tees residents and those from surrounding communities to be active everyday from Saturday 19th through to Sunday 27th September. Challenges ranged from attending a fitness class to gardening to going on one of Teesside’s popular walks and much more.

The week saw thousands of visits across Tees Active’s centres with existing and new customers taking part in traditional methods of exercise including attending the gym, fitness classes and swimming. Tees Active also saw many visits to its other attractions including ice skating and watersports. Many people also opted for home workouts, walks and running amongst other methods of exercise.

At the end of the week visitors were asked to let Tees Active know how they kept active each day during The Great British Week of Sport with the chance of winning a prize. There was a tremendous response with three lucky winners each being presented with a family leisure card worth £48.00 which offers huge savings on a wide variety of activities across all Tees Active venues allowing them to keep active and save money when doing so.

Overall a hugely positive and inspiring week for Tees Active and the Stockton-on-Tees community in raising awareness of the benefits of keeping active!
