As with the previous lockdown, all membership payments were frozen. This applies to all Tees Active memberships including Activ8 Health & Fitness and Learn to Swim.
If your membership payment was taken by the bank on 1st November, you will not pay for the first month back when we return. All payments will be adjusted to reflect the entire duration of the closure to ensure you do not lose any time.
If you have paid up front for any membership, such as an Activ8 Annual membership, the period of the closure will be added to the end of your contract.
Our learn to swim programme will return across all pools from Wednesday 2nd December. Lessons will pick up where they left off before November’s lockdown, with lessons going ahead on their usual days and times.
Unfortunately, the ice arena must remain closed whilst Stockton is in Tier 3. Please visit the ice arena website for the latest updates.
If you had a booking during this time our venues teams may have already called to arrange a refund. If you would like to speak to someone about this, please call the relevant venue or fill in an online form here.

The information below is relevant for the reopening of our venues once lockdown is over and will be updated as soon as we are able to welcome you all back.
Our customers are the heartbeat of our venues and we’ve missed seeing you all. We are delighted that we can reopen many of our services and allow you to start being more active again. In order to do this safely and responsibly, we’ve had to make some changes that you need to be aware of before visiting. Please use the quick links above for specific activity information or read the FAQs below for everything you need to know when planning your visit.
If you have any symptoms or are feeling unwell, we ask that you cancel your session and stay at home to protect our staff and customers.
For the time being all activities must be booked online and everyone must register for a new account. Find out how in the FAQs below.
We have positioned hand santising stations at the entrance to every venue and within each activity area. Please use them regularly throughout your visit.
We have enhanced our cleanig regime and ask that all customers wipe down any surfaces with the available cleaning products before and after use.
We have installed signage and some areas operate a one-way system. Please be mindful of others at all times and follow social distancing guidance.
Our teams are doing everything they can the ensure everyone can enjoy keeping active in a safe way. Please be patient and understanding.
When possible we ask that you use contactless payment methods to avoid handling cash.

As you would expect, we’ve made some necessary changes across all of our venues to ensure we can reopen safely and responsibly. Scroll down this page to watch some of our welcome back videos. This will give you an idea of the new operations we have introduced and what you can expect to see when you visit.
To allow us to manage and assess the flow of visitors across our sites, and to assist the government’s track and trace efforts, all activities must be booked online for the time being.
As of Monday 19th October, all peak time gym sessions (Monday – Friday 08:45 – 11:15 & 16:00 – 20:00) will have to be booked online but you can attend off-peak gym sessions without booking.
Everyone must register for an account on the new Tees Active booking system. It’s really important that you choose the correct option when joining to ensure you don’t run into any difficulties that could delay your ability to book activities.

Since the situation evolved all those months ago, we have and will continue to act only on the direction and guidance that is presented to us. Of course, this has largely stemmed from the UK government and Public Health England, but also from the industry bodies that we are associated with. Some have been more vocal than others and much swifter in their response to tackling the pressures we face upon reopening activities.
In essence, the timeline has been formulated based on how quickly guidance has been issued, as this has determined how much progress we have been able to make in each area. This has naturally identified an obvious road map for the phased reopening of services. For example, the fitness industry was extremely forthcoming with information to enable operators to open safely, which allowed us to make advancements in this area more quickly than others.
Of course, all of this is still subject to external influences, on a local and national level, and we will be reviewing everything over the course of the coming weeks and months.
The social distancing guidelines also means that some areas are unable to reopen safely at this time. However, we are committed to reopening them as soon as it is safe for us to do so.
Unfortunately at the moment we are not allowing spectators in any of our venues. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and social distancing measures are followed.
Adults are required to take part in activities with children under the age of 16. The ratio of adults to children varies depending on the activity. Please visit the swimming and ice skating welcome back pages for the ratios for these activities.

We do not require visitors to wear face masks when taking part in physical activities, however you can wear one if you would prefer. Visitors to Billingham Forum Ice Arena are required to wear a face mask when within the arena but these can be removed once on the ice. See here for more information.
