IB Leisure Earns National Recognition at ukactive Awards

IB Leisure has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious ukactive Awards 2025, shortlisted in the Regional Centre of the Year category. The recognition marks a significant milestone for the Ingleby Barwick-based facility, which has quickly become a cornerstone of health, wellbeing and community life since opening in 2020.

Operated by Tees Active, and in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, IB Leisure was purpose-built to serve one of Europe’s largest housing estates, and has since grown into a thriving hub that connects public services, empowers individuals, and delivers life-changing impact. Through innovative fitness technologies, inclusive programming, and a strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement, IB Leisure continues to set the standard for public leisure.

The ukactive Awards are among the most respected accolades in the physical activity sector, celebrating excellence, innovation and impact across the UK. As the leading trade body for the physical activity sector, ukactive represents over 4,000 organisations and plays a pivotal role in shaping national policy, driving sector-wide improvement, and championing the role of physical activity in public health. Being recognised by ukactive reflects not only operational excellence, but a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of communities.

Leon Jones, Managing Director of Tees Active, said:

“Being named a finalist in the ukactive Awards is a proud moment for everyone connected to IB Leisure. This recognition reflects the strength of our community, the passion of our team, and the commitment of our visitors who bring the centre to life every day. IB Leisure was built with purpose, and this achievement is a testament to the positive impact it continues to have across Ingleby Barwick and beyond.”

As part of a wider portfolio operated by Tees Active, the centre plays an integral role in delivering on the objectives of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council – supporting its strategy to improve health and wellbeing across the Borough.

Winners will be announced at the ukactive Awards ceremony, taking place on Thursday 2nd October 2025 at the ICC Birmingham.
