Junior Admissions Policy
Why have a Junior Admissions policy?
In having a Junior Admissions Policy Tees Active (TAL) acknowledges its
responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of children attending any given activity offered within a TAL managed facility. Whilst appropriately trained and committed TAL employees can never totally replace the care and attention provided by a parent/guardian, the purpose of the Junior Admissions Policy is to help safeguard children who use our facilities. TAL’s policy was drawn up following consultation with The Institute of Sport and Recreation Management (ISRM) North East members of The Sports and Recreation Trust Association (Sporta), Stockton on Tees Local Safeguarding Children Board (SLSCB) and follows guidelines issued by the ISRM in relation to swimming admissions.
For the purpose of this policy a Responsible Person is deemed to be a person aged 16 years plus.
What is the Junior Admissions Policy Statement
‘All children under the age of 10 years old using the facilities must be
accompanied in the building by a responsible person at all times. This includes
attendance at casual and coached sessions but excludes Childcare Services.
In addition to the above statement and after having carried out the appropriate risk assessments, further additional conditions apply:-
- General – Children under the age of 12 years old will not be admitted into a TAL operated facility after 8pm unless accompanied by a responsible person
- Swimming – Any child under the age of 8 years old regardless of their swimming ability MUST be supervised in the water at all times by a responsible person. Supervision is on the ratio of ONE adult for every TWO children.
- Ice Arena – Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied on the ice at all times by a responsible person.
