North East community leisure trust Tees Active has formed an exciting partnership with the Institute of Swimming focusing on the continuous development of the trust’s established Learn to Swim Scheme. Tees Active, managing 3 Swimming Pools and teaching over 2000 children and adults each week, strives for high quality delivery across all programmes within their growing portfolio of leisure facilities. The opening of the £?M leisure centre in Ingleby Barwick in Summer 2020 will also see an expansion of the learn to swim programme and enable more swimmers across the region to develop the fundamental knowledge and skills to support a lifelong enjoyment of swimming.
Managing Director of Tees Active, Leon Jones, explains, “We are excited to be working closely with the Institute of Swimming in order to continuously develop our popular Learn to Swim scheme. With the help of the Institute of Swimming, we are looking to develop our scheme further by offering training opportunities for potential swimming teachers in the local community.”
Tees Active are passionate about the quality of their swimming lessons and have ran a successful scheme for over 15 years, furthered by the recent naming of Commonwealth Gold Medallist Aimee Willmott as their Learn to Swim Ambassador. This partnership, alongside the Institute of Swimming will help to raise the profile of swimming in Stockton-on-Tees and support the development of swimming teachers to grow the ever expanding programme.
Diane Wilson, Tees Active Aquatics Manager, said, “We are looking for individuals with a real passion for swimming who are motivated to help participants enjoy their lessons and continue the journey through aquatics once they have completed the scheme.’
Rebecca Cox, Managing Director of the Institute of Swimming, added ‘We are thrilled to be working with Tees Active. We are passionate about developing swimmers to reach their potential and Tees Active have put this at the heart of their operations.”
With courses programmed for 2019 and workforce plans for 2020, the next three years is looking very exciting for Tees Active staff and the residents within the local Community.
