Our customers are the heartbeat of our venues and we’ve missed seeing you all. We are delighted that we can reopen many of our services and allow you to start being more active again. In order to do this safely and responsibly, we’ve had to make some changes that you need to be aware of before visiting. Please use the quick links above for specific activity information or read the FAQs below for everything you need to know when planning your visit.
If you have any symptoms or are feeling unwell, we ask that you cancel your session and stay at home to protect our staff and customers.
For the time being all activities must be booked online and everyone must register for a new account. Find out how in the FAQs below.
We have positioned hand santising stations a the entrance to every venue and within each activity area. Please use them regularly throughout your visit.
We have enhanced our cleanig regime and ask that all customers wipe down any surfaces with the available cleaning products before and after use.

All our staff have attended specific COVID-19 awareness training giving guidance on how to stay safe. We have enhanced cleaning regime’s which includes regular deep cleaning to ensure high levels of cleanliness are maintained. Staff will be required to routinely perform cleaning tasks throughout the operating times and may be required to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE) which may include face masks and gloves.
Whilst we have extensive measures in place to maintain the highest level of hygiene across our venues, we also have an expectation from our visitors to take responsibility for their own hygiene. As with our staff, we politely request that all our customers uphold the highest possible hygiene standards – whether it be when sneezing or coughing, through frequent application of hand sanitiser to cleaning down equipment.

Of course, but all children (under 16yrs) must be accompanied in the pool by an adult on a 1:2 basis.
We are not allowing spectators at this time.
The safety of our customers and staff is our number one priority which is why we have introduced a new booking platform like many other leisure operators. Each club will have a capacity to maintain a safe swimming environment inline with health and fitness social distancing guidelines, this helps us to control and assess the flow of visitors across the venues in the early stages of re-opening and will prevent unnecessary queuing.
If members and non-members are unable to attend a booked swim session they must be cancelled in advance to free up space for others, otherwise a nominal fee will be charged.
Admission into the swimming pool will not be permitted if you have not booked your session.
To allow us to manage and assess the flow of visitors across our sites, and to assist the government’s track and trace efforts, all swims must be booked online in advance for the time being.
Everyone must register for an account on the new Tees Active booking system. It’s really important that you choose the correct option when joining to ensure you don’t run into any difficulties that could delay your ability to book activities.
There will be two options available…

Unfortunately if all of the spaces in a session have been booked you will not be able to attend this session. We have a limited amount of spaces for each session and recommend booking in advance if there is a particular time you want to visit, especially if this is during peak times.
You will also be able to hover over sessions on the swimming timetable to view the remaining spaces for each session, allowing the opportunity to book at a time when numbers are lower if you wish.
The Tier 3 guidelines stipulate that fitness classes, including aqua classes across the country should be temporarily withdrawn under these restrictions, but we remain hopeful that they will be able to return shortly.
We want to reassure you that we have taken all the necessary steps to provide a safe environment, however we understand that not everyone will be as confident as others to return and everyone’s circumstances are different. If you have an Activ8 membership and you are unsure about coming back we have a number of options available to continue freezing your membership. Please email activ8@teesactive.co.uk and one of our team will be in touch to chat about your options.
Lessons restarted from the 2nd December following the second national lockdown. View the learn to swim page for all the up to date information.

In the changing areas there are clearly marked one-way systems in place to allow safe and easy access and egress to/from the pool. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines walking to or waiting on poolside.
We are asking all customers to arrive ready to swim (private changing will be reduced but available for those that require it).
A reduced number of showers will be available but we are asking customers to shower at home whenever possible. By showering at home before and after swimming it will minimise the time spent in the changing rooms and help maintain water quality.
Swimmers from the same household can participate amongst themselves without social distancing as per government guidelines.
Whilst in the water, participants should adhere to government guidance on social distancing in relation to others in the pool or those on poolside.
Unfortunately, no spectators are permitted for the time being.
Lifeguards will continue to supervise the swimming pool in the usual way while maintaining social distancing. In the event of having to complete a rescue or administer first aid, all lifeguards have been provided with personnel protective equipment and fully trained.
Always attempt to maintain appropriate social distance between yourself and another swimmer.
Please do not overtake whilst swimming.
Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching and where possible allow them to overtake.
A maximum of 10 swimmers per lane must be adhered to for double lanes and 6 for single lanes.
Choose your lane using the fast, medium and easy swim signs and by watching those already swimming. Be prepared to change lanes on other users ability and maintain the maximum number per lane.
Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath after completing your swim, please be mindful that others using the lanes will want to keep on swimming without stopping: so keep yourself to the edge of the lane allowing others to turn at the wall, turning your head away and allowing others to maintain social distancing measures.
Water fountains are currently out of use. We ask that you stay hydrated by bringing your own ‘pre filled’ water bottle on to the poolside during your swim.
At the moment we are offering Big Splash sessions with the flumes open however at the moment our floats and inflatable sessions are not in operation. You may bring your own floats however balls are not permitted.
We will be reviewing guidance regularly and when it is safe to do so we will be reintroducing them back into the programme as soon as we can.
At the moment you can bring floats into the pool however balls are not permitted. If you are seen to be using the float inappropriately you may be asked by our lifeguards to remove it from the pool until you have finished your session.
For the time being all lockers are free to reduce the risk of cross contamination.
When booking sessions through our online booking system, each adult needs to book their own space separately through their own account. However this is not the case when booking a family swim pass as 2 adults and 2 children are covered by these.
