Tees Active were one of the providers for the Stockton Holiday and Activities and Food Programme (HAF) 2021. The programme was funded by the Department of Education and was targeted for children who were eligible for free school meals.
The aim of the programme was to ensure children who attended the programme:
– Eat healthily over the school holidays
– Be active during the school holidays
– Take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment
– Be safe and not to be socially isolated
– Have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition
– Be more engaged with school and other local services
During the summer of 2021 Tees Active provided activities for 5 weeks. The offer consisted of GoClimb sessions on Mondays, Exclusive HAF Ice Skating sessions on Tuesday and Thursdays and Air Trail sessions on Wednesdays.
From 20th - 23rd December Tees Active delivered Festive Fun at the Forum. The offer consisted of GoClimb sessions and Ice Skating, including the opportunity to visit with Santa in his Billingham Forum Grotto.
Tees Active was awarded a Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Compliance Plus award for the partnership work between Tees Active and the providers of the Stockton HAF project.
In total, over 1340 children attended Tees Active's HAF programmes in 2021.
Children were provided with healthy meals during their HAF 2021 visits.
Children had many opportunities to be active and develop their social skills during their HAF 2021 visits.
The Stockton Holiday Activities and Food Programme 2021 was a collaboration between Tees Active and a number of local partner organisations. This includes Tees Active, Active Kicks, NE Coaching, Iron Guidance, Billingham Boxing Academy, Groundwork, Billingham Town Council, Eastern Ravens Trust, National Elite Coaching, BCT Aspire, Hardwick in Partnership and Stockton Youth Services.
During the summer of 2012 Tees Active provided a teenage only offer for 5 weeks. The offer consisted of Go Climb sessions on Mondays, Exclusive HAF Ice Skating sessions on Tuesday and Thursdays and Air Trail sessions on Wednesdays.
After consulting with the lead providers, the scheme was opened to primary school aged children.in week 3 of the summer holidays.
Tees Active also organised for children attending the HAF programme to sample Born to Move Tees Actives newest physical activity for children. Children acted as subjects for 2 Tees Active instructors so they could be formally assessed whilst delivering Born to Move. In The final week three ice rink professionals attending the HAF Ice session and coached several groups whilst being encouraged by IC Bear.
From 20th – 23rd December Tees Active worked with several partners to deliver ‘Festive Fun at the Forum’ which consisted of groups of children who had enrolled on the HAF scheme visiting Billingham Forum to Ice skate and tackle GoClimb.
On arrival they were all given a Santa hat and then had the opportunity to visit Santa and his elf’s in his grotto. The children were invited to pick out of Santa’s lucky dip sack, where they won a voucher to a free a physical activity at one of our venues.
The week was finished off on Thursday evening with an exclusive UV party in the ice rink. Throughout the week children and providers had access to graffiti boards to add comments on their experiences during the week.
