June is Pride month, a month dedicated to celebrating acceptance, equality and diversity as well as recognising the triumphs and struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community. This year, we supersized our celebrations and held a Pride on Ice party at Billingham Forum Ice Arena on Saturday 22nd June.
The event featured a live DJ set, discounted tickets, face painting and of course, lots of rainbow decorations! Attendees filled the rink with colour as they skated around with their flags, props and fancy dress and it was great to see the fun had by all in such an inclusive atmosphere.
Anne Restall, General Manager of Billingham Forum, said of the event “We know how important it is to show our support to the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, we strive for our venues to be a supportive space for everyone and believe our extremely diverse customer base is what puts the Forum at the heart of the community and enables us to provide activities and events that support and entertain everyone. The Pride on Ice party was a fun-filled event attended by people of all ages and backgrounds, even the staff couldn’t resist donning a few rainbow props and getting in the celebratory spirit! It was great to be able to play our part in the June pride celebrations this year.”
Pride Month takes places worldwide from 1st – 30th June.
