The Stockton Memory Walk
The Stockton Memory Walk is organised by the Stockton on Tees Borough Council and aims to bring the community of Stockton-on-Tees together to raise awareness of dementia. Whilst raising much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society which is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. By taking part in the walk, you are helping to raise the awareness and reduce the stigma. You can make your donation via Alzheimer’s Society website, phone or cash donations inside the River Tees Watersports Centre.
There are two routes for you to choose. The shorter route – the Infinity Loop which is a 2.33km walk with disable access. The longer route – the Newport Bridge which is a 6.67km walk. This route includes stairs to cross the Newport Bridge, there is no disable access but there are benches along the route. Please make sure you are physically capable if you want to choose the longer route.
After the walk, you can try the outdoor activities at the Tees Barrage, Air Trail is offering discount, subject to availability. There will be advice and information inside the River Tees Watersports Centre, separate dementia friend sessions for children and adults as well as face painting for children.
Everyone is welcome, no booking required, enjoy a walk by the River Tees, taking in the iconic sights of the Infinity Bridge and the Tees Barrage.
