A young Teesside sprinter will be leaving the English winter behind and crossing the Atlantic to the sunshine of Brazil to compete at the Brazil Paralympic School Games in Sao Paulo.
Amy Carr a member of Middlesbrough AC and Tees Actives Sports Academy has been selected for the Great Britain TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) Team who will be travelling to Sao Paulo on November 22nd to compete in the Brazilian Paralympic School Games. The Games last year were the largest par-sports schools event in the world with approximately 1,300 students competing.
Amy a pupil at Egglescliffe Secondary School said “I am delighted to be selected for the games and really excited to be travelling and competing in Brazil, I am sure it will be a fantastic experience to sample this type of atmosphere and experience some of the Brazilian culture. The competition is going to be tough but I am sure this will help my development in becoming a better athlete”
Amy who won Gold and Bronze in the 100m and 200m respectively at the UK School Games in Manchester during the summer is busy training hard with sessions at Thornaby Pavilion and at Tees Active Sports Academy Conditioning Room at Billingham Forum which hopefully will get her in great shape for Brazil.
