North Eastern Promise
Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme continued their recent success locally at this weekend’s Short Course Regional Championships at Sunderland Aquatics Centre. After 30 of the Scheme’s swimmers aged from 10 to 18 had met the qualification standard, focus then turned to beating best times and winning medals.
BOSSS swimmers fought off stiff competition from all over the North East including Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle to finish with 21 medals. All of the swimmers impressed with 85% of the swims turning into new best times.
Head Coach Chris Leighton was extremely pleased with the continued progression from the age groupers (13 and under) and happy that 4 of the senior swimmers posted top 6 times in the UK this year in their respective age groups. “We showed again what a fantastic group we have here. Many of the younger swimmers were competing at this level for the first time and came and smashed their PBs!, We will be entering the holiday season determined to carry on with the hard work in the pool which is the cornerstone of our success and look forward to 2015″
