Tees Active Sports Academy duo, Rachel and Eve Jackson won Bronze medals at the Flanders International Judo Cup on Sunday 30th October.
Rachel sustained a nasty injury one minute into her first fight. Following a clash of heads Rachel suffered a suspected broken nose, however showing true grit and determination she fought on, her nose packed full of foam, to eventually win her group.
The semi final was a 12 minute epic which was decided after nine minutes of golden score. Rachel exhausted and unable to breathe properly and was finally defeated by one of her England team mates who went on to win the Gold medal.
Eve had a smoother run to the semi-finals defeating each opponent with the same gritty spirit as her sister, where she was eventually stopped by a Dutch competitor.
It was a fantastic day for the England Girls Under 40kg squad with three of them ending up with international medals. We are all proud of your effort and achievement!
