Tartan Triumph for BOSSS Girl
The busy competition schedule continues for the Borough Of Stockton Swim Scheme with the Scottish Gas Age Group championships taking place in Aberdeen at the same time as British Gas International Meet in Manchester. BOSSS sent Aimee Hawke, Laura McCluskey and Alex McNeil up to Aberdeen (pictured below), whilst Aidan McDonagh and Nicola Riberio travelled down to Manchester.
Both championships proved once again to be a huge success for the swimmers involved. The 3 junior swimmers, Aimee, Laura and Alex all produced some fantastic swims making finals in almost every one of their individual events. The highlight of the championships came for the girls both picking up 2 medals each. Aimee claiming 2 golds on the same day in the 400m IM and 200m butterfly whilst Laura claimed gold in the 200m freestyle and bronze in the 400m freestyle.
Down in Manchester Aidan and Nicola (pictured below) competed at the senior championships where all the countries top swimmers gathered as their last major meet before this month’s Commonwealth games. Nicola competed in the 50m Breaststroke and Aidan competed in both 400m IM and 200m Breaststroke, qualifying for the junior final in which he finished 8th.
Coach Chris Leighton was extremely pleased with how all of the swimmers performed. “They all gained vital experience competing at such a high level. We want each of them to continue to work hard now and continue to improve in preparation for the British Nationals which are held over 2 weeks from 29th July to 10th August”
