Black Belt Honour for Lauren
Lauren Perley is celebrating after being awarded her Karate Black belt at the tender age of 14.This talented teenager who is a member of the Teesside Taisho-Do Karate Club and Tees Active Sports Academy has been dedicated to her sport for the past five and half years after initially attending a taster session as part of the Sporting Start holiday programme.
Lauren was the only female of the 4 people taking part the grading’s held in Thornaby She was in front of 3 examiners for approximately four and half hours. A delighted Lauren said “The grading was probably one of the most physically demanding things I have done but all the hard work was worth it to gain my black belt.”
Laurens coach Mark Raistrick added “For Lauren to of gained her Black Belt at such a young age is a testament to her talent, dedication and hard work. Lauren always gives 100% at every training session and she is a credit to the club and family.”
Lauren is now training hard for the English National Championships which will take place at the end of March and she will be aiming to perform well in all her tournaments throughout 2014
