Wrestling Hoping to Make a Splash
Stockton wrestling club are spreading their wings and starting a new club session at Splash in central Stockton. The Stockton club who won the Evening Gazette Junior Sports Club of the year award in 2012 are still maintaining their training base at Billingham Forum on Sunday evenings. But on Tuesday February 5th they are starting to train at Splash 7 -9pm with juniors welcome between 7-8pm and adults can take to the mat at 8pm.
Emma Ibbertson, Splash manager said “We are delighted to introduce the opportunity for our customers to experience the fantastic sport of wrestling. The profile of the sport has been raised since the Olympic Games in London and with the success in 2012 of Stockton Wrestling Club and their members I am sure the sessions will be very popular.”
Dave Sudron, Head Coach of Stockton Wrestling Club and who officiated at the London 2012 Olympics said “The club has had a great year and we successfully organised and staged the British Novice Championships at Thornaby Pavilion when the club returned with 4 gold, 13 silver and 3 bronze medals. Wrestling is a fantastic sport for both male and females and is a superb way to get fit we are hoping that the Splash sessions will prove to be popular.”
