White Water Thrills for Young Sports Stars
Members of Tees Active Sports Academy and Sports Therapists from Teesside Sports Injury Centre had a new challenge to overcome during the half term holidays as they tackled a white water experience at Tees Barrage International White Water centre
The novice paddlers were acting as guinea pigs for candidates who were being examined after completing a Raft Guide course at the Barrage. Candidates had to give academy members a 20 minute safety and instructional briefing before safely guiding them down the course.
Allan McDermott, Tees Active Sports Academy Manager said “Everybody has had a great day with plenty of thrills and spills. This has been a great opportunity for Academy member’s to bond and relax in a totally different environment. They have all been working hard this week particularly in the Academy Strength and Conditioning room at Billingham Forum taking the advantage to train whilst away from school or college.”
Chris Walker, Water Sports Operation Manager added “ The white water rafting experience is a superb opportunity for sports clubs, organisations and businesses to have a great day and is a fantastic way to develop teamwork. All safety equipment and wet suits are provided so all people have to do is bring their sense of adventure.”
