Top Kayakers on the Tees
Some of the top slalom kayakers in the UK will be arriving on Teesside as they compete at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre. Kayakers from the Premier Division and division 1 and 2 will test their skills on the challenging white water course at the Barrage.
Saturday September 21st will see the division 1 and 2 paddlers competing all day, this competition will incorporate the British Junior and Veteran Championships which is a huge honour for the Tees Tigers club to organise and stage. Sunday will see the premier paddlers tackling the course. With 150 paddlers competing on the Saturday and 85 paddlers competing on the Sunday there will be plenty of action for spectators.
Chris Walker Operational Manager at the Barrage said “Members of the Tees Tigers who are based at the barrage have been working hard to secure and organise this event and as the course is open to spectators this is an ideal opportunity for the public of Teesside to watch some fantastic action for free and also have a great day out on their own doorstep.”
Spectators will hopefully cheer on the local Tees Tiger paddlers especially Beth Kelly and Brandon Watson who are pushing hard for promotion from division 1 to the premier division. Hopefully a good performance on their own course will go a long way to gaining top points.
