Tees Active’s tenth birthday attracts thousands
Here at Tees Active we are still elated from celebrating our tenth birthday in style with an all-day birthday party last week. Customers were treated to cake and balloons whilst enjoying a selection of activities for only 10p! Yes 10p! Thousands of local people joined in the birthday fun on ice, in the swimming pools and in the children’s play area. We want to say a massive thank you to all our loyal customers for joining in our birthday celebrations whilst raising vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer and Eastern Ravens Trust.
Billingham Forum saw a steady increase of customers all day with families making the most of the 10p playbarn and swimming offers. The queue was nearly as big at the 10p hotdog stand, where customers were indulging in these cut price snacks. One of the first customers through the door was Katie Clarke and her daughter Summer from Billingham, she loved the celebrations and couldn’t wait to get involved: “We’ve got here early to make the most of this fantastic event, having already visited the play barn we are now going to have fun on the ice. As a regular customer of Tees Active it’s nice to be rewarded and I am loving every minute.”
Roy Broadbent, Manager of Billingham Forum added: “It’s been such a good day here with customers and staff all joining in the celebrations. It’s nice to see everyone walking around with big smiles on their faces. So many local people have enjoyed our fantastic facilities and I hope they will come back and visit us again soon.”
Special events were held all over the Borough of Stockton with Splash, Thornaby Pavilion, Thornaby Pool and Tees Barrage International White Water Centre (TBIWWC) also taking part. Customers at TBIWWC couldn’t believe that white water rafting was only £10 extending the celebrations onto the water.
Ava Hoggarth aged 9 from Norton was presented with a years pass to use at Tees Active Leisure Centres as a reward for the fantastic birthday card she designed.
Throughout this jam packed day 1400 slices of cake were eaten along with 1000 hotdogs. 500 balloons were blown up and 250 children’s faces were painted. It was a day that will be remembered, thanks for all those who got involved and supported.
