Tees Active is 10!
Local charitable Leisure trust, Tees Active is celebrating a special birthday, with 10 years of success in the leisure industry. As a thank you to all our loyal customers from the Borough of Stockton and beyond we are offering 10p entry to a range of activities from swimming to ice skating. The 10p day will run on Thursday 1st May across all Tees Active leisure centres, where customers will be encouraged to take part in the celebrations with face-painting, cakes and balloons. On the same day Tees Barrage International White Water Course will be offering £10 rafting places.
As part of the celebrations we will be raising money for the Mayor’s charities: Marie Curie Cancer Care and Eastern Ravens Trust.
The birthday event kicks off a jam packed weekend including taster aquatics sessions and an open weekend across the Activ8 Health and Fitness clubs.
The leisure trust, a charitable social enterprise, started trading on 1st May 2004 with five leisure centres- Billingham Forum, Splash, Stockton Sports Centre, Thornaby Pavilion and Thornaby Pool. The current portfolio has grown to include The Swan Centre for Leisure in Berwick upon tweed and Tees Barrage International White Water Centre.
Over the past ten years huge investments have been made to secure the long term, sustainable future of our facilities. With key developments such as; the Splash expansion to include dry sports facilities, Billingham Forum major refurbishment, transformation of Thornaby Pavilion gym and the re-development of the canoe slalom course at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre.
Steve Chaytor, Managing Director of Tees Active said:
“ We have had ten great years developing services and facilities for sport, leisure and physical activity in Stockton Borough and Berwick upon Tweed. I’m proud of what our staff have achieved in that time and proud of the relationship we have with our customers and our partners, particularly Stockton Council. We hope people will join us in the celebration and we look forward to many more years of getting more people more active.”
Raising the level of participation in sport and physical activity has always been Tees Active’s core aim and we have worked hard to increase visitor numbers year on year. We are hoping our special 10th birthday events will attract lots of new and existing customers to try our facilities and enjoy time with family and friends.
