Norton West Health Fayre
Over 300 people of Norton West were treated to an extravaganza of activities on Saturday May16th as the inaugural Norton West Health Fayre announced itself at the Education Centre in Norton. The event, funded by Stockton Public Health, promoted every aspect of wellbeing and living a healthy lifestyle.
The event, which was held at the Education Centre on Junction Road in Norton, entertained such activities as first aid demonstrations, mini coached activities as well as giving helpful information from Cancer Research UK, Healthy Heart Check and Teesside Injury Sports Centre.
One of the main attractions, was live chef demonstrations displaying healthy cooking techniques and allowing visitors to taste their creations. There were many physical activities for people of all ages to go and get involved in, including coached sports by fully qualified coaches from Norton & Stockton Ancients and ideas for exciting children’s games by More Life.
Norton West Ward Councillor Norma Wilburn said, ‘We all know how important good health is but sometimes maintaining it can feel like a chore. This event aimed to show young and old how to enjoy keeping healthy and to publicise all of the many fun and interesting health giving activities that are available in the Norton West Ward’.
Matt Ellwood from Tees Active who helped to organise the event said, ‘The event has been a great success with everyone having a good time and picking up some healthy lifestyle tips to take home. Everybody embraced the activities and demonstrations throughout the day which was great to see.’
