Are you Up for the Tees Challenge?
Tees Active is throwing down a challenge to the public of Teesside and it is all in the aid if a good cause. The Swim the Tees Challenge is an opportunity for people to raise fund via sponsorship for Butterwick House Children’s Hospice.
The swim the Tees Challenge consists of 4 different graded challenges but do not worry you do not have to brave venturing into the Tees in February but you can complete the challenges in the warmth of the pools at Splash, Billingham Forum and Thornaby Pool.
Challenge 1 is to swim from Tees Barrage to the Riverside Stadium which is a distance of 4.5 miles, the equivalent of 288 lengths in the pool. Challenge 2 consists of swimming 8.5 miles the distance from Tees Barrage to Yarm Bridge the equivalent of 544 lengths in the pool. Challenge 3 is yet another increase in distance as you swim the distance from Tees Barrage to the mouth of the Tees which is 10.25 miles or 656 lengths and for the people who really want a challenge you can swim the 23.25 miles which equates to completing all 3 challenges.
Do not worry you do not have to complete the distances in one visit to the pool in fact you have from Monday 11th February to Sunday 21st April to complete your aquatic challenge. There are numerous sponsorship incentives available to all participants including discounted swim passes.
Di Wilson Tees Actives Deputy Manager Aquatics said” This is a great way to get fit and keep that new resolution going through to April at least and also raise funds for a fantastic charity.”
