There are many benefits of physical activity, both physical and mental health benefits, that we can all experience if we understand the importance of exercise and actually take part in some. Tees Active care about our community and believe that with easy access to information, that explains just how beneficial taking part in physical activities can be, our community may be more inclined to take part. So we have done our research and compiled information from our NHS and other sources to help you see the benefits of physical activity.

There are many health benefits of exercise and mental benefits of exercise. Did you know that exercise can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50% as well as lower your risk of early death by up to 30%! On top of these benefits of physical activity, being active has been found to increase self esteem and reduce stress and anxiety.

In order to stay healthy, our NHS recommends adults should try to be active every day and research suggests we should all aim to achieve at least 150 minutes of physical activity over a week. That can sound daunting at first but if you start by making small changes to your routine you can still feel the benefits of physical activity and slowly work up to more exercise each week. The mental benefits of exercise and health benefits of exercise will help you to lead a more fulfilling and happy life.

We care and we know you care too, some times it can be difficult to motivate or we think it’s too late for us. It’s never too late to feel the benefits of physical activity and understand the importance of exercise. Make small changes today and reap the benefits for your mental and physical health.
