Sponsored and supported by Tees Active the first Stockton Schools Indoor Bowls Festival was held at Thornaby Pavilion Indoor Bowls Club. Organised in partnership with Stockton Schools Sports Partnership over 30 secondary pupils participated in a new sport. Paul Bambrough from Tees Active passed on some on the basic skills of indoor bowls before the friendly competition commenced.
Schools were placed into teams of four and each game consisted of teams playing four ends per match. With 2 leagues and each league consisting of 4 teams all the pupils got plenty of playing time.
All competitors received a well earned medal for competing and there was a friendly spirit amongst all the teams. Paul Bambrough them had a surprise to finish the days competition with a bowling game of spider which provided some fun as all competitors bowled at once aiming for one jack
Peter Sheehan Stockton Schools Sports Partnership Competition Manager said, “This is the first time we have delivered an Indoor Bowls Festival, and I am delighted with the positive feedback we have received from pupils and staff, we will hopefully be making this part of our programme of competitions for next year.”
