Annie Spinning with Success

One of Billingham Forum’s best figure skaters over the past few years is Annalise Jones, and this talented teenager is now intending to pass on her love for her sport as she is delighted to have successfully passed her coaching examinations and will now be one of the resident Ice Professionals at Billingham Forum.

Annalise has definitely come a long way since joining the Forums Learn to Skate programme on a Saturday morning when she was only 6 years old. Her talent was recognised by resident Ice Professional Cathryn McCabe who started coaching her at a young age.

Annalise a member of Tees Active Sports Academy has competed at the British National Championships 4 times, placing in the top 10. She also recently been auditioning for ice shows including Disney on Ice.

Annalise said “Some of my fondest memories are of performing in Billingham Ice Skating club’s pantomimes on ice, most recently featuring as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz several years ago. Billingham ice Skating Club have been very supportive of me throughout my skating journey.”

Annalise had to complete, 50 unpaid mentoring hours and 2 examinations with British Ice Skating to get her full level 2 coaching qualifications. This now allows her to teach private lessons to any budding figure skating stars. She has also completed numerous online courses about young athlete’s mental health, transitions through sport, and children’s participation in sporting activities.

Annalise who also works on reception at Billingham Forum is keen to introduce some new services to the Ice Arena programme and added “As a coach I want to inspire the next generation of skaters and pass on my knowledge of the sport.”
