Tees Active’s award winning adventure attractions located in Stockton-on-Tees welcomed Alex Cunningham MP to help celebrate English Tourism Week 2019.

Taking place in spring each year, English Tourism Week campaigns to raise the profile of the industry and helps to celebrate the value and quality of tourism within the country ready to kick start the summer season.

Alex Cunningham MP visited both Tees Barrage International White Water Centre and Air Trail. During a site visit the MP was shown the facilities on offer including the Olympic standard white water course which offers a range of watersport activities and the family favourite Air Trail High Ropes Course which rises to the height of 18 metres and is set over 4 levels with over 38 unique challenges making it a firm family favourite. Alex Cunningham MP said, “I am always very conscious of how important tourism is in my constituency and I am delighted to be able to show my support to English Tourism Week and the local visitor attractions.” “Tees Barrage is a well established and loved tourist attraction in the local area. I have experienced first hand today a variety of exciting activities that are on offer and we are really fortunate to have such a unique destination on our doorstep!” Leon Jones added, “Tees Barrage is a truly unique destination for both families and adventure enthusiasts and provides a range of activities for all ages that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the area meaning we are able to attract visitors from all across the UK and not just the North East. It was a pleasure to welcome Alex Cunningham MP to our attractions and it was great to have shared views on attracting more visitors to the area.” As part of English Tourism Week a host of other activities have also been on offer including white water rafting, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking.

As well as celebrating English Tourism Week through a range of activities both attractions were recently crowned the winners of the Tourism and Hospitality Award at the Teesside Business Awards 2019 and will now be considered in the Grand Final of the North East Business Awards on 16th May at Hardwick Hall Hotel.
