Winspear Wins England Spot
A talented teenager from Ingleby Barwick has been selected to represent the English Schools Swimming Team.15 year old swimming star Andrew Winspear a member of the Borough of Stockton Swimming Scheme and Tees Active Sports Academy will be representing his country next March when he competes against swimmers from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the 200m Individual Medley.
Andrew was selected for the England team after successfully coming through trials in Middlesbrough and finally a national trial in Manchester.
Andrew has a gruelling training schedule of 20 hours per week in the pool and further two hours land training. Andrews’s proud mother, Alison said “I am really pleased for Andrew he has worked extremely hard and he is delighted to of been selected for his country.”
Andrew who started swimming with Stockton Amateur Swimming Club when he was 10 years of age has had a successful 2007 as he has been selected for British Swimming 2012 Talent training squad. He also picked up silver and two bronze medals at the British National Youth Championships in August.

This modest teenager said” It is a great honour to be selected for your country and it makes all the hours in the pool worthwhile. My ultimate ambition would be to represent Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics. Although I know this will mean an amazing amount of hard work it is something that really motivates me to get into the pool every day.”
This talented teenager will definitely be pulling out all the stops for his country next March.
