Wildcats in Claw Biting Finale
Billingham Wildcats took centre stage at Billingham Forum Ice Arena as they ensured the League Division One North title with an incredibly tense home game against their nearest rivals Telford Wrekin Raiders.

The Wildcats went into the game knowing that a win or draw would mean the title returning to Billingham after a two year absence. The Billingham girls were determined not to let the Raiders wrestle the title away from them on their own ice.
Billingham led eight times in a tense end to end encounter but with the score at 8-7 in Billingham s favour the Raiders equalised with 2 minutes left on the clock. In a dramatic and tense finish to the game the Wildcats managed to hold on to gain the draw that meant the girls and their supporters going wild and the title returning to Billingham Forum Ice Arena.
Wildcats coach Julie Hammond said “ The girls had to really dig deep particularly in the last 2 minutes, but with the title on the line there was no way we were going to let Telford score and steal the title from us. Fortunately on this occasion it was them who went home sick as a parrot.”
The season is not over for Billingham’s own Pussycat Dolls as they will be taking part in the play off finals in Sheffield on the 26th May .They will also be playing in a one off winner takes all game against the winners of the Division One South league in Coventry for the right to play the bottom club of the Premier League where the victor will be entitled to Premiership status.
