Racketball (Rachel Racketball.jpg)Residents from the borough of Stockton are being offered the opportunity to get fit and learn the skills of racket ball under expert guidance all for FREE.

Tees Active as part of the Sporting Re-Start programme has teamed up with NHS Stockton and England Squash and Racketball to deliver an introductory 6 week course at Thornaby Pavilion starting on Monday 6th September.

The course will be held on the recently refurbished squash courts and participants will be coached and guided by local coach Phil Harris. Participants will be provided with all the necessary equipment.

Mark Shipley England Squash and Racketball regional manager for the North East said ““Racketball is an excellent sport for anyone to get involved in; it is especially good for beginners as the larger ball and racket head makes the sport easier to pick up. Getting the right coaching on any sport from the beginning can help anyone play to their best ability.”

David Seller, Thornaby Pavilion Manager said “I can recommend racketball to any person, sporty or not, and once you’ve given it a try you’re sure to return again and again. It is a fantastic fun way to get fit as the average number of calories burnt during a racketball game range from 640 calories to 822 calories and a player can run a distance of up to 2miles during a game.”

David added “The course will be held on Mondays between 6-6.45pm so it is at peak time and should be convenient for most people.”
