Triple Triumph
Talented teenager Chris Wilkinson brought the Biathlon National Schools title back to Teesside for the third year running, Chris who was 16 years of age at the time of the competion had an early birthday present with his hat trick of wins.

The National Schools Championships were held at Bath University. The biathlon event consists of competitors completing a 100m swim and a 1000m run with the times from each event represented by a point’s total. Chris a member of Tees Active Sports Academy and Billingham Amateur Swimming Club was competing in the boys year 12 and 13 event. The Prior Pursglove College pupil came second in the swim and ninth in the run but his overall points total of 2537 points secured him the gold medal overall.
A delighted Chris said “I was hoping for a top 5 finish as I am currently only in Year 12 so to actually win the event was a tremendous bonus. I am now training hard for the Scottish Nationals in April and will be competing at the qualifiers for the British Biathlon Championships in the same month.”
Another Teesside athlete Catriona Bruce, a member of the Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme and Tees Active Sports Academy produced an exceptional performance in the Girls Year 10 event. The Egglescliffe pupil finished second in the swim and sixth in the run but Catriona s overall points total of 2266 points secured her the silver medal.
