Tees Active gets the Green Light

After 18 years, Thornaby Indoor Bowls is changing hands and is now managed by Tees Active, who currently run the adjacent Thornaby Pavilion.
Steve Chaytor, Managing Director of Tees Active said “I am delighted that we as a company are now involved in this exiting opportunity. Our aim is to encourage more people to play, both at a recreational and competitive level. There is a thriving indoor bowls club at Thornaby and I want to keep the continuity of the club going, as Thornaby has been a venue for both national and international competitions”.
With six indoor rinks and a bar, Thornaby Indoor Bowls is a friendly environment that can be enjoyed by all the family. Tees Active hopes to encourage more people to participate and increase the involvement in the leagues and competitions that operate in the Club. Thornaby Bowls Club already has a strong junior section, who are currently Yorkshire Champions. The junior section, which caters for the eleven to sixteen year olds, provides an ideal environment to encourage the younger generation to take up the sport.
Graham Fordy, from Thornaby Bowling Club, said “the club has been the catalyst for the development of Bowls in the region and allows us to provide plenty of opportunities for new bowlers. The new relationship between Thornaby Bowling Club and Tees Active will only enhance the provision of the sport in the area. Steve Chaytor added, “Bowls is a great sport to be enjoyed by the whole family”.
