Tees Active awarded customer service excellence standard Charter Mark.
Tees Active has been awarded a prestigious award for excellent customer service. Obtaining Charter Mark involved a rigorous assessment by an independent assessor over a number of months, against a number of criteria and finished with a two-day site visit to the centres where interviews were held with customers, Councillors, partners and staff.

Tees Active is a non-profit distributing leisure trust operating the ‘Active Life Centres’ in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees. The company took over the management of the leisure centres in May 2004 and employs around 350 staff at Billingham Forum, Splash, Thornaby Pavilion, Stockton Sports Centre, Thornaby Pool, Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre and Arlington Park.
To meet the standard, Tees Active had to demonstrate that they set standards and perform well, actively engage with their customers, partners and staff, are accessible to all, continuously develop and improve and use resources effectively and imaginatively.
The inspectors report stated, “Tees Active can be proud of having met the new charter mark standard with a high level of compliance. The service demonstrated exemplary practice in providing substantial, relevant evidence and in co-operating to give access to all areas of provision during its charter mark assessment. It is appropriate to comment on the excellence of the submission of evidence at the desktop stage which contributed to the very high level of compliance achieved.”
Charter Mark is awarded for 3 years with annual visits to ensure compliance with the standards and is real recognition of all the hard work that has gone in to transforming the way the service is delivered.
Steven Chaytor, Managing Director said "We always strive to deliver an excellent service to our customers. We are delighted that the government has recognised Tees Active in this way."
