Strictly Splash!
The fitness studios at Splash are being graced by two ballroom dancers who are training hard to make a name in the highly competitive world of ballroom dancing.
Danyelle Clarke has even gone international in her search for a partner to reap success on the dance floor.
Danyelle who has been dancing since she was 8 and now teaches a weekly adult class at Splash on Monday evenings has paired up with Russian born Igor Strukov. Igor currently resides in Sheffield where he works full time as a dance teacher. Igor has a wealth of dancing experience after performing with ballet and contemporary companies in Russia and the USA and training at the Laban Centre in London
Teessider Danyelle who had an illustrious career as a junior had a break from dancing whilst she completed her English degree but has now re kindled her passion for dance and formed her partnership with Igor earlier this year after meeting him at a dance centre in Sheffield.
Danyelle and Igor will be competing at their first competition in Brentwood in the autumn. Ultimately this new dancing couple have ambitions to represent England in the World Championships and progress through the rankings.
Danyelle said “In dancing terms Igor and I are a very new partnership and we have many long hours in the studio ahead of us to be able to compete at the top level.”
Igor added “The studio at Splash is an ideal training environment and my weekly commute from Sheffield for our training sessions along with training all round the UK under the tuition of some of the top professionals in the country will hopefully result in success on the dance floor.”
