Stockton Swimming Talent Makes a Splash

Billingham Forum was the venue for the keenly contested Stockton Primary Schools Gala. The gala, which was organised and sponsored by Tees Active Ltd, Stockton Schools Sports Partnerships and Stockton Sports Development Team
The gala was watched by an enthusiastic crowd of over 300 people. The gala was a culmination of 5 days of preliminary swimming festivals where children from fourty one primary schools competed to discover the six fastest swimmers and the six fastest relay teams
Billingham Forum was the venue to discover the fastest primary school swimmers in Stockton. Over 200 swimmers competed in events consisting of single length races in Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke and also 4 x 1 medley and freestyle relays and for the more accomplished swimmers there was an Open Butterfly event for boys and girls.
All the swimmers and spectators were treated to a swimming demonstration from Daniel Marshall, a member of Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme and Tees Active Sports Academy who is the national age group champion at 400m freestyle,200m and 100m backstroke and the 100 and 200m butterfly and a lifesaving demonstration from Chris Leighton who recently won a silver and bronze at the British Championships and is a member of Billingham Forum Lifesaving Club and Tees Active Sports Academy.
