The Borough of Stockton Scheme has acquired the services of one of the country’s brightest young coaches James Stannard. James a level 4 ASA Coach has moved from his position of head coach for the City of Derby Swimming Club to guide the schemes talented swimmers as head coach
James who originally hails from Boston in Lincolnshire graduated from Hallam University with a Honours degree in Sports Development and Coaching and whilst in Sheffield he started coaching with City of Sheffield Swimming Club and started to formulate his own philosophy as a coach. After graduating James moved to Derbyshire to coach the Treonte Long Eaton Swim Club and eventually moved to the Derby Swimming Club where he coached for 2 years.
James is enjoying living on Teesside although his footballing allegiance can not be swayed to the Boro as he remains loyal to Sheffield Wednesday
James said “My main aim for the future is to build on the great work which has been done in the scheme over recent years. The programme is already recognised nationally for producing excellent swimmers. The task now is to try to improve this through working more closely with all the swimming providers in the area to create a seamless pathway from learn to swim through to elite performance. With the ultimate goal of giving every individual in the Stockton area the opportunity of reaching their potential within the sport."
