Standing Tall

British Rowing are searching Teesside and the North East for young, tall male and females to potentially become the next generation of British rowers. James Harris North East Talent Development Coach for British Rowing is looking for males who are 6ft 3in or taller, aged between 15 and 21, committed to become an international sportsman but do not have to have rowed before.

James is also looking for females with similar qualities but they need to be 5 ft 11in and aged between 14 and 22 to potentially join the World Class Start programme and become part of a sport that has a record of being one of Great Britain’s most successful international sports.

James said “The World Class Start programme is based at Tees Rowing Club and Teesside has produced some fantastic rowers over the past few years that includes Katherine Copeland World Under 23 Champion and Beth Bryan a former swimmer and a member of Tees Active Sports Academy who started rowing after being tested and placed on the scheme and returned with a Gold medal from the European Junior Championships." James added "I am positive we have other potential top class rowers in the North East who are yet to be discovered.”

If you fit the criteria potential champions will be measured and put through a series of simple physical tests to determine if you have what it takes to become an international sportsperson.
