St Paul’s Turn on the Samba Style

St Paul's Winners 2011 (St Pauls Winners.jpg)20 teams participated in The Tees Active World Cup staged at Thornaby Pavilion this week. The teams consisted of year 3 and 4 pupils who had been given the identities of national teams from around the world.

The event which was organised by Tees Active was more than just a festival of football as participant also. competed on the Nintendo WII fit games which were projected onto the squash court walls. Teachers and pupils alike enjoyed skiing down a slalom course and then discovering their talent on the hula hoop game.

Tees Active staff were ably assisted by year 10 pupils from St Michaels BTEC Sport course who took responsibility for officiating games and collating scores and information

Bewley Junners Runner up (Bewley Junners Runner up.jpg)In a keenly contested competition Brazil (St Paul’s RC School) met Japan (Bewley Juniors) in the final which proved to be a tense affair. The match was officiated by Mark Bradley from St Michaels RC School and just as everybody was preparing for a penalty shoot out Joe Garbutt of St Pauls scored with the last kick of the game
