Record Breaker
The Cleveland Schools County Championships held at Clairville Stadium, Middlesbrough. witnessed several stand out performances,. One of the more notably performances, saw the 31 year old record for the intermediate girls 800m broken by Chloe Loredo.
Chloe a member of New Marske Harriers Athletics Club and Tees Active Sports Academy broke the record in a time of 2:15.9 beating the previous record by almost 2 seconds.15 year old Chloe who is coached by David Lowes also recorded a time that qualified her for the English Schools Championships which are to be held at Gateshead International Stadium in early July.
Chloe’s coach David Lowes said” It was a remarkable run as Chloe led from start to finish in what amounted to a time trial, with a winning margin of 7 seconds. With another year in the same age group the record will surely be reduced again next year.”
Dave added “Her targets for the season are the English Schools Championships and to further reduce her times over 800m and 1500m and to do so she will be travelling to Birmingham and Manchester to find top-class competition.”
Rachel Highfield a member of Gateshead Harriers and Tees Active Sports Academy continued her season’s good form by winning the sprint double in the intermediate girl’s event.
Both girls will now focusing their attention on the Inter Counties Championship as they compete against the best athletes from Durham, Northumberland, Cleveland and Cumbria
