Michael Marches On

A young local squash player is in a hot streak of form after recently playing in 3 squash tournaments, winning 2 and being runner up in a third tournament.

12 year old Michael Andrews a member of Norton and Stockton Ancients Squash club and Tees Active Sports Academy has just returned from the Aycliffe Open U13 event after returning with the honours, this comes only a week after winning the Ilkley U13 competition where he beat Nick Walls in the final 3-0 which was revenge after Nick had beaten Michael in the English Closed in October. This all comes after being runner up in the Carlisle U15 competition.

Modest Michael said “It has been a good few weeks with my wins at Ilkley and Aycliffe and after being injured in September and October I slipped a little down the national rankings as I missed several big tournaments so hopefully the ranking points I will receive for these past 3 tournaments will improve my national ranking.”

Michael’s father Stuart added “Mike has worked hard to get back to form and full fitness and hopefully 2012 will see him stay injury free and in hopefully his performances will be at a level that he has achieved over the past several weeks. Mike will be having a short break over Christmas but will be back on court and in the gym”
