Master Clinic
The young swimmers of the Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme were treated to a swimming master class as they had the pleasure of receiving some invaluable advice from two international swimmers.

Michael Jamieson who won a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and has already qualified for the World Championships to be held in Shanghai later this year and there was a homecoming for former Borough of Stockton Swimming Scheme and Tees Active Sports Academy star Jess Dickons who won a bronze medal at the World Short Course Championships and is training hard for the World Junior Championships.

Over 40 young swimmers were given technical advice by Jess and Michael in the Billingham Forum pool and were then treated to a 1 hour workshop on the importance of a correct diet to a top class athlete.

Jess who now trains at British s Swimming’s high performance centre at Bath University said “It was great to come home and meet the next generation of young swimmers in the borough. The Forum and in particular the pool have been totally transformed and it really is a great facility. Hopefully the swimmers can take something away from this morning’s clinic which will help them improve as swimmers.”

Chris Leighton, Head Coach of the Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme added “The clinic given by Jess and Michael has been a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers to learn from two world class swimmers on what it takes to become a top class swimmer. Jess is a fantastic example to all our members on what you can achieve with not only talent but hard work.”
