Leanne Nets Final Selection Spot

 

 Leanne Rogers from Thornaby is the only girl from the North East to be selected for an intensive four day screening process for the England Under 17 Netball Team

Leanne has battled her way through to the later stages of the selection process after competing against over 50 girls from all over England at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield

leanne potraitSixteen-year-old Leanne who is a pupil at Thornaby Community School nearly did not make the trial as six days before leaving for Sheffield Leanne injured her back. Fortunately, Leanne is a member of the Tees Active Sports Academy and she received treatment at the University of Teesside Sports Injury Clinic

Leanne has been playing Netball since she was in Year 5 and can play in several different positions that include Goal Keeper, Goal Defence, Goal Attack and Goal Shooter

The four-day screening process will be held between April 10th-14th at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. Leanne will be put through a rigorous programme of trial games, training drills and fitness testing

Leanne who is training hard at the Active Life Centres says “I am really pleased to have advanced through to the next stages of the selection process. I know it will be tough but I will try my best. I would like to thank Penny Minnock and the Sports Therapy students at the University of Teesside for their fantastic treatment”

There is no rest for Leanne who will be competing this weekend for the South Durham and Cleveland County Under 16 Netball Team in Bournemouth at the Alex Barless Inter County tournament
