Kids Conquer Climbing Challenge
The pupils of Frederick Nattrass Primary School in Stockton-on-tees have been emulating the likes of Chris Bonnington, Sir Edmond Hillary and local mountaineering star Alan Hinkes.
For these young children it was a definitely a case of the mountain coming to Mohammed, as they scaled the dizzy heights of the 6 metre transportable climbing wall which arrived in their playground.
Through the benefits of Big Lottery Funding Tees Active’s Paul Bambrough, Young Persons Lifestyle Manager was able to hire this unique mobile facility from West View Project in Hartlepool. The children were able to experience in a safe and controlled manner the thrills of climbing.
Paul said “Big Lottery Funding has allowed the Active Start team to provide physical activity sessions in selected schools in Stockton. Along with our normal sessions we like the children to access as many different experiences as possible we took this opportunity to demonstrate how keeping fit and being active can be fun.”
Caroline Reed Head Teacher for Frederick Nattrass Primary said “The children have thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience and over the two days that the wall will be on site I expect that over 100 children will have had the opportunity to take advantage this fantastic facility.”
