Hockey Honours for Hall

 

Billingham born and bred Tony Hall has made an international impact in the world of Ice Hockey coaching. Tony has been selected as an International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) instructor, one of only 20 world wide.

Tony was approached by the IIHF which is based in Zurich to become one of their official instructors with specific responsibility to assist emerging ice hockey countries develop their own coaching education programmes.

Tony’s passport has already been in use as he has just returned from Hasselt in Belgium where he delivered a level 2 course for the Belgium Hockey Federation. Tony is waiting to find out if he will be travelling to Moldova later in the year.

Tony has been recognised after a lifetime of experience in Ice Hockey which started with his playing career with Billingham Juniors where he was selected for the Great Britain under 19’s and Tony was a Billingham Bomber regular.

Tony spent 10 years with the Great Britain under 18, Under 20 and senior women’s team as either a coach, assistant coach or manager competing in international competitions all over the world.

A keen student of the game Tony has attended coaching courses and workshops in Finland, Canada, USA and Switzerland which has assisting in his development as a coach.

Tony said “Being selected as an IIHF instructor is a fantastic honour. The IIHF has 66 member associations worldwide from Australia to Mexico so no doubt I will be visiting some interesting places over the next few years. The courses are really rewarding because you know that you are helping to develop the sport internationally”
