As the Premier league rolls into action this weekend it also signals the start of the season for traditional sports.

Thornaby Indoor Bowls Club is no different and this international venue is busy preparing for the return of their bowlers who have been playing outdoors throughout the summer months.

With six rinks this top class venue which underwent a major refurbishment in 2009 and returned to a stage a highly successful 2009/10 season is making preparations for a new season.

Thornaby Pavilion Manager David Seller said “The bowls club is open for old and new members to join from Monday 30th August. We have plenty of green space for new teams to enter leagues and we can ensure a warm welcome for all participants.”

The Thornaby Club has a thriving adult and junior section and with numerous qualified coaches the junior coaching sessions on Thursday evening and Saturday mornings are an ideal opportunity to introduce youngsters as young as 6 to the sport.

Dave Seller added “The popularity of bowls is increasing year on year and during the winter months the bowls club is an ideal setting to meet friends both old and new. If you are new to the sport, staff will advise and sign post you to the best way to get the most out of the sport.”
