Giant Tees Active Cake Raises Cash For Charity
HEALTH-CONSCIOUS Teessiders have raised £180 for the Butterwick Hospice through a guess-the-weight of the cake competition which of course they didn’t eat!
Tees Active – which operates Billingham Forum, Splash, Thornaby Pavilion, Stockton Sports Centre, Thornaby Pool and Castlegate Quay for Stockton Council – ran the competition as part of their first birthday celebrations, beginning Saturday 30th April and closing the following Saturday.
Customers were asked for a donation as entry to guess the weight of the huge Tees Active birthday cake, with all proceeds going to the Butterwick Hospice, the chosen charity of Stockton Borough Council Mayor Councillor Jennie Beaumont.
The cake itself was also donated to the Butterwick Hospice whose staff helped raise £68 through a similar competition giving a total donation of £248.
Tees Actives Managing Director Steve Chaytor said “We are pleased to give this donation to such a worthy, local charity and would like to thank Tees Active customers for their generous donation.”
