Tees Active Street dancers were literally dancing in the street as they transformed Wellington Square in Stockton into a scene reminiscent of the cult television programme Fame.

Four young girls who started street dancing at Billingham Forum 12 months ago were part of an event funded by Stockton on Tees Teaching PCT health trainers to promote the work of the health trainers and Tees Actives Young Persons Active Health Scheme.

The day involved members of the public being given information on the services available to them to assist them in their weight management and participation in physical activity
Wayne Allen from TFM was in attendance and even took part in Street dance and boxercise sessions while demonstrating his prowess on the Wii Fit

With the opportunity to win a 6 month pass to the Activ8 gyms and a 100 free family skate and swim passes being distributed the event proved to be a hit with the Stockton public

But the real stars of the show were dancers Rebecca Franklin, Sadie Haswell, Holly Sayer and Jessica Clarke who braved bitterly cold conditions to entertain the crowds with their high energy routines

Sharon Bartram, Health Trainer Manager said, "The event was a great success, with a lot of interest in the Health Trainer service on the day.  The Health Trainers are in different venues across the Stockton Borough and there role is to give support & motivation to anyone over the age of 18, who would like to make a behaviour change towards living a healthier lifestyle.  This could be in relation to healthy eating & weight management, becoming more physically active, becoming a non smoker or also helping with any underlying issues, by signposting on to other services if we can't help."
