EGG -lescliffe Scramble to Victory
The River Tees resembled the opening sequence of cult TV show Hawaii Five- 0 as Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre staged the inaugural Stockton Schools Bell boating Regatta sponsored by H Box (Absolute Vending)
.
The regatta was divided into two sections with primary school competing in the morning session and secondary schools competing in the afternoon session.
The primary school competition was keenly contested with 16 teams consisting of 8 paddlers in each team completing the 250 m course at a frantic pace. The teams had to negotiate the heat stages and in an extremely exciting and close final Egglescliffe held off their rivals to be crowned the first ever winners of the Primary schools bell boating regatta and lift the magnificent ‘H’ Box Trophy
The secondary school competition was contested between 11 highly motivated and enthusiastic teams and the final consisted of 2 teams from All Saints a team from Bishopsgarth and Cundall Manor. In another exciting race Cundall Manor just edged out their rivals to be crowned champions.
Howard Burleigh, Director of Absolute Vending said “We are delighted to sponsor new and exciting events like this. Absolute Vending are keen to be associated with any event that increases physical activity and health in young people.”
Simon White. Manager of the Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre added “The Regatta has been a great success and hopefully next year’s event will be even bigger and better”
